Common Problems

  1. The app does not load
Check your internet connection. While My Guitar Tabs works offline, it requires an internet connection for the first-time access.

If using the browser app, try refreshing the page or performing a hard refresh.

On mobile apps, fully close the app (not just minimize) and reopen it.

  2. I cannot find songs
Search Scope: My Guitar Tabs is a personal notebook. Search works only within your creations or shared songs that you’ve saved.

Check Notebooks: Ensure you’re in the correct notebook, accessible via the side navigation.

Archived or Trashed Songs: Search in the Archive or Trash section if songs have been moved there.

Sync Issues: Ensure synchronization by logging into the same account on all devices. Check the user menu in the top-right corner to confirm.

  3. I cannot find a marking to add to my song
Use the marking shortcuts bar on the Virtual Keyboard.

Press the "+" button at the top-left of the keyboard to access the Markings keyboard.

For custom markings, select a chord, press the "T" button that appears above it, and type annotations directly. See more details about how to write annotations.

  4. Writing lyrics for your songs
If you want to add lyrics to your songs, select a chord, and a "T" button will appear above it. Press this button to type your lyrics as annotations. See more details about how to write annotations.

  5. Login with Google is not available on the iOS app
Currently, Google login is unsupported on iOS. Use Microsoft or Apple ID instead.

If you use the same email for both Google and Apple ID, logging in with Apple ID will synchronize your songs seamlessly.

  6. Login with Microsoft does not work
This issue occurs if you've logged in with another provider (e.g., Google) using the same email.

Use an alternate provider or another email to log in. We’re working on resolving this issue in future updates.

  7. Clipboard does not work
This is a known issue. Some devices or browsers, such as iOS or Safari, may be particularly restrictive about accessing the clipboard. We’re actively working to provide better support for these cases.

  8. Zoom does not work
This is a known issue. Some devices or browsers, such as iOS or Safari, have proven challenging for implementing zoom functionality. We’re working on providing full support for zooming on any device and browser.

  9. Trying to open a song and get "Failed to load song" error
This commonly occurs when the visibility of a song that was publicly shared is changed back to private. In this case, the link to the song will no longer work for anyone except the song owner. To avoid this from happening, you can copy the song to your notebook while it is still public.

Less frequently, this can also happen if you use your browser’s back button to navigate to a song that has already been deleted.

  10. I cannot find some of the new features
Your app will eventually get updated to the latest version automatically. However, if you want to get the latest features right away, you can force an update as explained in the Update Version section.
