ASCII Tab is a common format used to write, share and read tabs online. Because tabs in this format are plain text, these can easily be copied and pasted anywhere.

Writing tabs in text format, however, is time consuming and it’s easy to make mistakes. You can export your existing tabs in My Guitar Tabs to this format.

To export your tabs, go to the song you want to export and click the export button:

This will open the Export to ASCII menu:

Export to ASCII text

Here you can preview your tab in text, configure the width (in characters) and copy the text. For example, the following tab was generated with Export to ASCII:
